Kostas Mountzouris studied Mosaic in Ravenna at the Institute Albe Steiner (1993) and Sociology and Journalism at Universita di Urbino.
In Ravenna, he had the privilege to study and explore the secrets of this rare art from Santo Sparta of Cooperativa Mosaicisti and the opportunity to be a member of the team that created the original reproduction of the "Mosaic Map of the Holy Land", under the artistic direction of Renato and Carlo Signorini and their renowned Studio il Mosaico - with which he collaborated in other comissions too. He also received a quite honorable training by Alexandr Kornouchov (Georgian Madonna mosaic).
He collaborated with two restorative teams of the Greek Ministry of Culture, working on the mosaic floors of the Roman villa in Stroggili in Arta and on the Palaiobyzantine mosaic floors of "Dometios" Basilica in Nikopolis. Also, he created a collection of original reproductions of Hellenistic, Greek Roman and Byzantine period for the Greek Ministry of Culture.
His Tesina in the Institute Albe Steiner was on "Nikopolis, Roman and Paleocristian mosaics" ("Nikopolis, mosaici Romani e Paleocristiani").
His Thesis in History of art in Sociology was on "Modern mosaic between technique and innovation" («Il mosaico moderno fra tecnica ed invenzione – La Scuola di Ravenna »). He is a member of International Association of Contemporary Mosaicists (AIMC).
He teaches mosaic art and techniques since 1996, in Italy, Greece and China.
In August 2012, he had the honor to introduce mosaic art to the founders of Mosaic Art Association of China in Beijing.
He is now teaching at the center for art science and education «openC.A.S.E. 303» in Kifisia.
He collaborates with C Architects, Athens.
